Series Description
In this series, we invite you to forge your path as you practice the iconic Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga’s Primary Series. Developed by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Ashtanga Yoga is a physically challenging style of yoga that follows a set sequence of postures linked together with vinyasas.
Gateway To Ashtanga focuses on the well-known Primary Series, here uniquely presented in 3 classes, from short to long format, by Dhyana Ortega.
Choose between a fiery 10 minute-practice of sun salutation A and B, a 40-minute condensed version of Ashtanga’s Primary Series, and a complete 70-minute practice of The Primary Series. Designed to detoxify and purify the body, mind, and spirit, The Primary Series is also known as Yoga Chikitsa, which translates to “yoga therapy.”
Through posture, breath control (‘ujjayi breathing’), and ‘drishti’ or gaze, ashtanga yoga is a path of discipline and deep concentration. The beauty of the ashtanga practice is that you know what you get. All over the world, fellow ashtanga yogis are practicing the same sequence in this very moment. Traditionally practiced first thing in the morning, ashtanga can be an anchor in your day, bringing consistency and continuity.
